Assistant Chief Nursing Officer 

Full Time: Days Shift

Florence, Alabama is situated in Northwestern Alabama, where the Tennessee River Flows through the scenic Shoals. On your days off spend some time fishing and boating on Wilson Lake. Come tour the historical sites, visit Key Cave National Wildlife Refuge, or take a relaxing lake cruise on Wheeler Lake.

How you'll contribute

Qualifications and requirements

Graduate of a professional school of nursing with a bachelor's degree required.   Master's degree preferred. Currently licensed by Alabama State Board of Nursing.

Experience

This position requires five to seven years of work experience in Medical Surgical Services in which management skills have been demonstrated.  Most recent 3 of the last 5 years leadership must have been in direct leadership role in a hospital setting or direct patient care environment.

What you will do

The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for providing leadership in planning, directing, coordinating, providing and improving health care services consistent with hospital policies, objectives and standards for measurement and maintenance of quality nursing care. The ACNO will develop strong leadership, business management and other skills necessary to progress to a CNO role in the organization.  Participates in developing new programs, policies and education to support expansion of nursing and patient care services.  Responsible for guiding and mentoring nursing managers and other staff under his/her direct supervision.  In the absence of the CNO, assumes responsibility for her/his scope of duties.   

Supervisory Accountability

Directs and coordinates two or more departments through subordinate nurse manger.  Reviews and

evaluates overall performance of departments and establishes long-term goals and objectives.  Reviews, 

evaluates, and approves training and development objectives and progress.  Handles departmental

personnel actions.  Provides significant input to long-term goals and objectives.
