Job Summary And Qualifications
The Imaging Resource Coordinator-RN plays a critical role in supporting invasive imaging procedures by managing scheduling, workflow optimization, and communication between referral offices, staff, and the Interventional Radiology (IR) physician. This position ensures timely acquisition of outside images and reports, facilitates smooth patient care coordination, and identifies opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and patient experience. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments, and medical staff. They also provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic imaging procedures, including interventional radiology. This role ensures patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the imaging process, while collaborating with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
Patient Rights
The Imaging Resource Coordinator-RN will work to support and protect the rights of each patient served, treat each patient with dignity and care, and maintain patient confidentiality/privacy.
Patient Safety
Demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives, including patient falls, medication safety, National Patient Safety Goals, critical value reporting, and administration of blood products.
Patient/Family Education
Provides appropriate patient/family education per department and hospital policy and procedures.
Technical Job Requirements
Motor coordination and manual dexterity must include precision, speed work, and sensory perception. Talking, hearing, and visual acuity are required. Must display high mental acuity with decision-making, reading, writing, and basic math knowledge. Must have basic computer skills and perform other duties as assigned. Coordinate and schedule invasive imaging procedures, ensuring optimal resource utilization and minimal delays. Monitor patient flow and adjust schedules to maintain efficiency and patient satisfaction. Obtain outside imaging studies and reports from referral offices or external facilities prior to procedures. Verify completeness and accuracy of patient records for IR procedures. Serve as the primary point of contact between referral offices, imaging staff, and the IR physician. Communicate procedure details, preparation instructions, and updates to all stakeholders. Track and analyze scheduling trends, resource utilization, and workflow bottlenecks. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and patient care. Maintain accurate records of scheduled procedures, acquired images, and communications. Ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards. Apply critical thinking skills in conjunction with facility policies and procedures to prioritize and problem-solve. Educates others as needed. Participates in in-services and meetings. Participates in committees as necessary. Demonstrates organizational ability and sound judgment. They also serve as a back up to the procedural Radiology Nurse. Assess and prepare patients for imaging procedures, including reviewing medical history and allergies. Administer medications, contrast agents, and sedation as ordered. Monitor patients during and after procedures for adverse reactions or complications. Assist radiologists and technologists during interventional and diagnostic procedures. Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper equipment setup. Respond promptly to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions. Provide clear instructions and education to patients and families regarding procedures and post-care. Document all nursing care, medications, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record (EHR). Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and radiation safety protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain current certifications.

What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
